Sound

Within our final OTS we implemented many diegetic and non-diegetic sound to form as much tension as possible. Effective use of sound is essential as audio can determine the entire mood of the clip based off of many things such as the instruments used.

initial inspiration

We discovered a really impacting sound clip that was within the OTS for 28 weeks later. This clip sounded really fast paced and would be ideal for a chase scene situation. However we couldn't use it due to the fact that it was too well known to look unique enough to us. There was also the issue of that it seemed to be too action oriented to make sense in a horror film. This was because it used an electric guitar.

Final choices

Finally we decided to use a more creepy style non-diegetic audio to make a zombie film seem more tense and scary. So this time we used a royalty free violin track that increased gradually throughout so that it slowly became creepier. we then laid over some royalty free bass booms at moments where shots switch to titles to give further scary impact. overall the film was then made to look a lot scarier than the clips would look on their own.

our diegetic sounds

We used a diegetic sound of a character screaming as it shows the fear of that character and adds a more threatening feel to the zombies that we have in our OTS. it was easier to create our own scream than to use a scream that has already been used before, it also adds a bit of uniqueness to our OTS which separates our OTS from others.
